Michael Barndollar is a passionate advocate for the nonprofit sector. He has dedicated his career to working with nonprofits to impact, change, or save lives, and help build sustainable, thriving organizations. He has 40 years of experience creating, implementing, and managing every aspect of fundraising, from annual fund appeals to planned giving programs.

As counsel, Michael has managed capital campaigns with goals ranging from $1.5 million to more than $35 million for healthcare facilities, libraries, theaters, historic buildings and a multi-million dollar endowment campaign, as well as conducted numerous feasibility studies, often training nonprofit boards on capital campaign readiness. 

Michael has special expertise in capacity-building analysis and strategy development, capital campaign feasibility studies, planning and management, development program audits, and board/staff fundraising training. 

With deep knowledge of nonprofit principles and practices, board development, and nonprofit revenue generation, Michael particularly enjoys the challenge of working with start-up nonprofits, guiding them through early development toward sustainability.     

Michael has served as the senior development officer for local, regional and national organizations, including Vice-President for Development and Alumni/External Relations for Antioch New England Graduate School, Division Vice President for the American Cancer Society, Director of Planned Gift Marketing for the American Cancer Society, Director of Major Gifts for the Maine Public Broadcasting Network, and the Development and Communications Director for The Iris Network in Portland, Maine.

Michael is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, National Association of Nonprofit Organizations and Executives, National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, and the American Prospect Research Association. 

He is a New Hampshire native and holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of New Hampshire. After more than a decade of pleasurable years of living in Maine, he and his wife Janice relocated to New Mexico in 2015, which truly is the Land of Enchantment.  After collaborating on many successful campaigns together, Michael continues to work with the Brandt Associates team remotely through the magic of technology.
